The Boiler Upgrade Scheme is a government grant, run by Ofgem, that helps homeowners in England and Wales replace a gas, oil, LPG or electric heating system with an air source heat pump. There is no income requirement. The grant is claimed through your MCS certified installer and deducted from your quote, so you only ever pay the reduced price.
Most homeowners in England and Wales with fossil fuel or electric heating qualify. There are a few conditions to check first.

No. There is no income requirement and you do not need to be on benefits. It is open to owner-occupiers, landlords and second homeowners.
No. The scheme only funds low-carbon heating such as air source heat pumps. It cannot be used to replace one fossil fuel boiler with another.
Homes with no mains gas connection that are replacing oil or LPG heating. Under current rules the higher rate runs until 31 March 2027. Other eligible homes receive £7,500.
No. Your MCS certified installer applies for the grant and deducts it from your quote. We redeem the voucher with Ofgem after installation.
You cannot use other government funding for the same heat pump. You may still be able to get separate funding for improvements such as insulation.
Most installs take two to four days, depending on whether radiators or the hot water cylinder need upgrading.
